Its been 4 months since we got the keys to our new home.

And from day 1, i have had to make sooooo many decisions.

When I’m working with clients, decision-making is one of my favourite parts of the process. I do the heavy lifting behind the scenes. 🏋️‍♀️

But when it came to designing my own home?

Totally. Different. Story.

I thought it would be easy because I am a designer, after all.

But im also admittedly indecisive when it comes to making decisions for myself.

Not only that, but i wanted to try so many different elements in the reno.

I found myself stuck, second-guessing even the smallest choices. I’d spend hours scrolling through inspiration boards, trying to create a vision that felt cohesive but also fresh. The pressure to get it “right” was huge.

What helped me, though, was remembering this:

Perfection isn’t the goal. Creating a home that feels like you is.

So, I started simplifying the process:

I chose a master colour palette to make each room feel cohesive even though it was designed different.

I took small steps and bitesize decisions as the reno went along, because progress is still progress.

And little by little, the overwhelming blur became a beautiful, clear picture.

Renovating a home takes patience, and that’s okay. Sometimes, the best designs come from embracing imperfection and remembering the space is for living not just aesthetic.

If you’re in the thick of your own renovation or design project, take it from me: give yourself grace, trust your instincts, and don’t be afraid to make bold choices.
